CBU is taking strides to become North America’s first energy self-sufficient campus, a blueprint for renewable energy systems on a global scale.

The CSEE takes this commitment to sustainability a step further, as one of the most sustainable university lab facilities in Canada.

The 35,000 square foot, two-story Centre is designed and built to LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold) standards. CSEE features include:

  • wind, geothermal, and passive solar energy,
  • lighting sensitive to occupancy and daylight,
  • a 30-foot wide bio-wall,
  • grey water treatment systems and rainwater collection, and
  • recycled and renewable construction materials.

The building embodies CSEE’s fundamental commitment to innovation. It is a space to work, to study, to think, and to be inspired.

“I saw the CSEE for the first time and thought: ‘wow, there’s the future.’”
